Spring Performances of Verdi’s Requiem

On April 28, Rene Barbera will step in as the tenor soloist for Verdi’s Requiem, performed by the Oviedo Filarmonia under the baton of conductor Lucas Macías. Joining Barbera are soprano Dinara Alieva, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk, and bass Maharram Huseynov as the other distinguished soloists. The El León de Oro and the Joven Coro de Andalucía, under the direction of chorusmaster Marco A. García de Paz, will be featured as the chorus.

Following this engagement, Barbera will travel to Geneva to join the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande for further performances of Verdi’s Requiem. Conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, the ensemble will feature soprano Zarina Abaeva, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk, and bass Dmitry Belosselskiy as additional soloists, along with the Coro dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia under chorusmaster Andrea Secchi. Performances are scheduled on May 1 and 3 at Victoria Hall in Geneva, with an additional concert on May 2 at Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne.
