‘IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA’ AT THE WIENER STAATSOPER

On October 19 & 24, René Barbera returns to the Wiener Staatsoper for his signature role of Conte Almaviva in Günther Rennert’s historic production of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Last season, Barbera made his acclaimed house debut as Ernesto (Don Pasquale), and later returned to Vienna as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore).

Günther Rennert’s classic production, which debuted in 1966, will feature a spectacular cast including Paolo Rumetz as Bartolo, Svetlina Stoyanova as Rosina, Samuel Hasselhorn as Figaro, and Sorin Coliban as Basilio. Graeme Jenkins conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Wiener Staatsoper.

Mr. Barbera will revisit the role of Conte Almaviva three more times this season: at Genoa’s Teatro Carlo Felice, at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, marking his debut in Japan, and at the Teatro Regio di Torino. Further information and dates are available via René’s Schedule.
