American Tenor René Barbera
American tenor René Barbera returns to Semperoper Dresden, joining their cast of Verdi’s La Traviata for two performance – December 31st, 2018 and January 2nd, 2019.

René Barbera returns to Semperoper Dresden to sing Alfredo Germont in “La traviata” December 31, 2018 at 4pm and January 2, 2019 at 7pm.

Barbera made his debut at Semperoper Dresden in late 2017 as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Of his performance of Alfredo in Dallas, Texas, the Texas Classical Review praised his interpretation, saying Barbera sung “Alfredo with beauty and forcefulness…he definitely has a ready-made career in the roles of this ilk, and this point is shown headed toward stardom.”

Conducted by Stefano Ranzani, the staging is by Andreas Homoki. Barbera sings across from soprano Iulia Maria Dan as Violetta Valéry and baritone Antonio Yang as Giorgio Germont on December 31, 2018. Soprano Venera Gimadieva is Violetta Valéry and baritone Thomas Hampson sings Giorgio Germont on January 2, 2019.
