TITLE ROLE DEBUT AS ‘IDOMENEO’ AT TEATRO MASSIMO
René Barbera makes his highly anticipated role debut in the title role of Mozart’s Idomeneo at Teatro Massimo in Palermo. With production by Pier Luigi Pizzi, Daniel Cohen conducts the Teatro Massimo Orchestra and Chorus. Of the work, Mr. Cohen says: “This score is a unique marvel of its kind – adds Mozart at the age of 25, his way of using the orchestra, especially the wind section, with surprising modernity”.
Performances will take place on April 18, 23, 26 & 28, featuring a starry cast including Aya Wakizono as Idamante, Carmela Remigio as Ilia, Eleonora Buratto as Elettra, Giovanni Sala as Arbace, Carlos Natale as the Grand Priest of Neptune, and Renzo Ran singing The Voice.
The premiere on Thursday, April 18 – will be broadcast live via the Teatro Massimo web TV at 8.30pm.
